John Maina Kiranga of Botswana has been elected as the Chairperson of the Africa Scout Committee for the 2022-2025 triennium alongside Armand Djeigo of Benin who will serve as the Committee’s Vice-Chairperson. The announcement was made on the fourth day of the 18th Africa Scout Conference.
The Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons were appointed by the 8 voting members of Africa Scout Committee on 27 August 2022 in a closed-door meeting after the elections of 4 new members was concluded in plenary.
The Africa Scout Committee is the “board” of the Africa Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and is one of the organisation’s three constituent bodies with the other two being the Africa Scout Conference and World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre.
The Africa Scout Committee is responsible for the implementation of the resolutions of the Africa Scout Conference and to act on the Conference’s behalf between its meetings.

In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Africa Scout Region, the Africa Scout Committee’s mandate starts on the closure of the 18th Africa Scout Conference and will finish at the closure of the 19th Africa Scout Conference in 2025.
