Conference Elects 4 Voting Members to the Africa Scout Committee

Delegates of the 18th Africa Scout Conference today elected 4 Voting Members to the Africa Scout Committee (ASC) to serve during the 2022-2025 Triennium.

The voting took place on 27 August 2022 after 10 individuals presented their candidacy for election to the Africa Scout Conference represented by 40 National Scout Organizations.

The ASC is the “board” of the Africa Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). It is one of three constitutive bodies of Scouting in Africa, alongside the Africa Scout Conference and the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre. The Africa Scout Committee is responsible for the implementation of the decisions of the Africa Scout Conference and for acting on its behalf between its meetings.

From the 10 candidates put forward by Member Organizations, the following 4 individuals were elected as Voting Members of the ASC:

  • Joseph Chidi IHEMEDU – Nigeria
  • Denis Wendpanga KIMA – Burkina Faso
  • Yassin Othman MAKARABA – Tanzania
  • Zo Hasina Franck RAMANARIVO – Madagascar

In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Africa Scout Region, the ASC’s mandate starts on the closure of the 18th Africa Scout Conference and will finish at the closure of the 19th Africa Scout Conference in 2025.
